Grounding

The importance of grounding and how to use sound to feel rooted.

Grounding is one of the most valuable spiritual tools. Grounding brings us into a state of balance, both mentally and physically. It is in this balanced state that our body can rest, repair, and heal on the physical, emotional and spiritual level. This is why I focus so much on grounding my clients during a session. When we ground, it reduces inflammation, helps optimize organ function and improves detoxification, by allowing toxins to flow out of us and into the Earth. On the emotional level, grounding allows our thoughts and emotions to move through us more easily. On a spiritual level, grounding enhances our connection to our intuition and spiritual guidance.

Many of us spend a lot of time thinking, about everything! This is exactly when we need to shift our energy in order to be present in the now and in our bodies. When you're grounded, you feel centered amongst the chaos going on around you. You are balanced and make better decisions, and behave in ways that are more positive. Grounding allows you to access your power, your talents, and fuels your visions and goals to create the best life for yourself.

How to ground yourself using sound:

  1. Use your voice to chant or hum long and low pitched Ohm’s. Chanting Ohm will help to purify your aura, it balances moods and emotions, boosts immunity and self-healing powers. Your voice is the most powerful sound healing instrument, try to use it consciously and wisely.

  2. Ohm 136.1 Hz Weighted Tuning Forks - These forks are tuned to the Earth’s frequency. It is the grounding resonance connecting us to our planet, and it is the most soothing sounds for humans and animals. The frequency brings the brain into an alpha state. You can reconnect to your natural state by listening and using them by gently placing the stem on your body on acupressure points, around injuries, and wherever your intuition tells you. Using them on the body encourages the release of nitric oxide in the blood to stimulate body to heal itself. Any points on the lower half of the body will help drawn the energy down out of your mind. If you don’t have tuning forks, you can always massage your feet!

  3. Tibetan Bowls - Gently strike the rim with a mallet and listen while the tone slowly rings to stillness. If it is a good sized bowl you can try placing the bowl on your body, such as on your stomach area. Feel the deep overtones and stillness take over. It will bring you into the here and now. Breathe, listen, and let go. There is a concept in neuroscience called “plasticity,” that refers to your brain’s ability to change, even as an adult. Regular singing bowl users report that practice with their bowl allows them to “train their brain” to access peaceful states more easily every time they practice.

  4. “C” Note Crystal Bowl - Softly strike or play the bowl slowly around the rim with a mallet. This note correlates specifically to your root chakra, promoting a strong grounding resonance. Feelings of being safely supported by the Universe will emerge within you. If you like to sing, see what emerges!
